Whitney DeLoach The Challenge We had planned on doing this challenge for the past few weeks and were finally able to share it on our Instagram! We decided to share it on Earth Day, April 22, because the day presents relevance to our cause. The challenge consists of counting one's water intake for a day and taking the average of those numbers at the end to compare to what the smaller communities in Africa have access to daily. The challenge's goal is to put the privilege of having and being able to use the amount of water we use daily into perspective. We laid out the guidelines and amount of water each action (running water, toilet flushes, etc,) uses up to make it easier for the participants in the Instagram post. Here's Our Caption: "HAPPY EARTH DAY FRIENDS!! 💧🌎🌱☔️💫 Earth Day reminds us to take care of our environment and be grateful for the privileges we have handed to us. It also reminds us of those who aren’t as lucky. Thirst Project DCHS is challenging you to count your water intake for a day! The goal of this challenge is to bring awareness to the amount of water we use in a day compared to those who are not as fortunate and compare the averages at the end. For ONE day, keep track of the amount of water you use and calculate it all at the end of the day (Refer to the second and third slides as references). Once you’ve used your math skills, Post a story and add “I accepted the #KUWMWI challenge and used ____ gallons of water today” (It stands for “keeping up with my water intake”…. obviously) Tag @thirstprojectdchs That’s it! Soo.. what do you get out of this challenge? Well, 1) you’ll be able to develop a greater understanding of the privilege you have compared to those who are less privileged by the end of it BUT if that’s not enough, then 2) PARTICIPATING GETS YOU ADDED INTO A DRAWING TO WIN A CHICK-FIL-A GIFT CARD! We have a Chick-fil-A gift card up for grabs and will either mail it or give it to the winner (chosen at random) once schools open back up. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to DM us!" More Plans We have so much more planned for the next few weeks and are excited to share them soon. Patience is key during these times and we hope to bring more awareness to the global water crisis as we had before, despite the major obstacles this situation has caused. With that being said, donations are still accepted and will be extremely appreciated! Thank you.
